work experience still not sure?
Then why not try the industry out? No strings.
Most schools and colleges have work experience / work placement
schemes which let you to try out careers by going to work for
a real employer for a couple of weeks, to see what it's all about,
and what it's like. You don't get paid whilst you work (although
some placements will cover your travel costs).
But what you do get is:
- A chance to see what the working conditions
are like, first hand
- A chance to meet people that do the
jobs for real and hear from them the real story about their
day at work
- A chance to make contacts within the
industry what starts out as a work placement could easily
end up as a full time job if you impress them
- A chance to get a good reference for
when you do start looking for work at the end of the
placement employers are asked to provide information to you
about your placement and, if they write you a glowing report,
this will be really useful in future job interviews! It's a
real chance to see if this is the right job for you
