The professional body for engineers in
the heating, ventilation and refrigeration industry is the Chartered
Institute of Building Services Engineering (CIBSE) who will sponsor
students for registration with the Engineering Council.
Their professional qualifications are
recognised worldwide and opens many doors for engineers to work
abroad. There are different levels of CIBSE qualification that
can be obtained:Licentiate,
Associate and Member. on your experience and qualifications:
Licentiate
(LCIBSE) This is the most basic of the three qualifications.
Usually, but not essentially, this qualification requires the
candidate to hold either a BTEC NC/ND or NVQ3/SVQ or equivalent.
A statement of work experience is also necessary.

Associate
(IEng ACIBSE) Usually, but not essentially, this qualification
requires the candidate to hold a BTEC HNC-HND/Foundation Degree.
It also requires an Engineering Practice Report and a Professional
Review Interview.

Member
(CEng MCIBSE) Normally candidates will hold a Bachelors
(Hons) Degree and usually an Accredited MEng degree. However,
there are a number of alternative routes to Member status. It
also requires an Engineering Practice Report and a Professional
Review Interview.
