Welcome to the Specialist Groups
Our four Specialist Groups play a unique part in the life of the association by focusing on key technical areas of strategic importance to members.
All four come together once a year to consider areas of common (and separate) business interest while also holding their annual general meetings.
At this year's Groups Conference at Trinity House, then HVCA president Martin Burton stated that the “without the existence of the Specialist Groups, the HVCA would be unable to provide services which – while available to all members – are, in many instances, tailored to the requirements of individual specialisms.”
In an event which was attended by record number of members Martin went on to directed his audience’s attention to the current review of the industry’s craft qualifications – a process which was being carried out by SummitSkills, the sector skills council for building services engineering, and into which “the input of the specialist groups has been both central and indispensable”.
The guest speaker for the day was New Labour’s spin-doctor-in-chief Alastair Campbell (pictured right). He gave a motivational talk to members with some insight in to his experiences behind the door at Number 10. Mr Campbell also presented the Specialist Groups’ Trainee of the Year Awards.
