The commercial and legal team is headed by Roderick Pettigrew, deputy chief executive of the association (pictured left).

“We are one of the busiest departments in the HVCA,” says Rod. “The nature of our work means we are pitched on a daily basis right into the heart of our members’ business.

"We are very proud of the fact that, because of our specialist expertise in all matters related to the work of building services firms, we can usually help and, if we can’t; we will normally find a man (or woman) who can!”

What do we do?

We provide expert guidance – free of charge – to members including advising on all areas of construction law and best practice.

We can help you with: dispute resolution through litigation, insolvency, adjudication, alternative dispute resolution and bespoke contractual forms of dispute resolution.

The team can also interpret contract documents - including standard form contracts, bespoke contracts, bonds, guarantees and warranties etc – on behalf of members. We will also provide advice on the implications of new, revised and existing national and international legislation.
