SummitSkills is seeking nominations for the 2009
National Training Awards for building services engineering– presentation
of which will take place at the British Library, London NW1, on the 25th March
2009.
Three of the awards categories are managed by the HVCA.
The Alfred Manly Management Award celebrates the achievements of young engineers who have been judged capable of progressing to a senior management role within the building services engineering industry.
Applicants must have achieved a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND), or completed a degree in building services engineering, and must already be employed in a junior or middle management role.
The award aims to assist winners in identifying their key management development needs and in achieving their full management potential.

Sponsored by the Happold Trust, the Happold Bursary is awarded annually to a craftsperson with a Level 3 National or Scottish Vocational Qualification and a minimum of three years’ post-training experience in an hvacr-related field, who is considered by his or her employer to be ready for a supervisory role. The Adult Existing Worker of the Year Award is open to individuals in all sector disciplines in which an NVQ/SVQ has been – or is in the process of being – established.

Finally, the Professional Engineer of the Year Award – created in memory of Ann Noblett, long-serving member of the HVCA staff – is open to anyone who has completed a HNC, HND or degree course in building services engineering and is progressing towards membership of an appropriate chartered professional body.
The deadline for nominations for these categories – as well as all other National Training Awards categories – is Friday 16 January 2009.
